Max Life scaling is fucked.

Basic flat max life mods shouldn't be on gear. Removing life from the skill tree from PoE1 to PoE2 was an amazing change. Do the same thing with items. Every armour and evasion character needs flat life on all of their gear pieces. It's damn lame for gearing and is a wrench in the cogs of scaling and progression design.

Life should just scale primarily on level. Exceptions such as % life on amulets, runes, uniques or other special mods should still exist of course.

At least remove life prefixes from gloves, helmets, boots and body armours and increase life gained when players level up instead.

this would be very good for the game and allow for better balancing and itemization, but ES would need to be completely removed form the game. so i wouldn't count on this to ever happen

I'm not really seeing why ES would need to be removed for a life change like this to work?

Currently, a big reason ES is the strongest is because, unlike armour and evasion items, you don't need to split the prefixes between defences and life. Seperating life away from the mod pools on gear would just help level the playing field for armour and evasion items with ES items.

Meanwhile, people have over 13k Life.

because ES hybrids would scale both for free

I guess ES hybrid might be a little too strong. ES on hybrid bases could just be adjusted though if that ended up being a large issue.

On another note; Chaos Inoculation would probably not be as overpowered anymore. If players always had more base life at high levels then the downside of the keystone would be comparatively larger.

CI would def be forgotten, with that life pool and ES you would just go LL for max damage and still have your massive ES. they would need to adjust all ES values, but looking at the recent changes they keep buffin it-my witch feels more tanky than in 0.2.

i like your idea, but i just don't think they will do it. i wish they did
The problem with your idea is that some builds scale life to use life in place of other resources. You would destroy several build possibilities just to make your preferred play style better. Bad idea.

It might be better if life was treated like other defensive stats like Armor, Evasion, and Energy Shield though. It could scale similarly to the armor level on gear without changing the paper-rock-scissors play style much.

According to the same argument, they also need evasion/armour on all gear pieces. Should that also be removed then?
It would also remove options for life stacking in various builds.

I'm not saying the balancing I'd right, but just removing life on gear is not the solution. I think optimally it should feel more like a tradeoff for other mods and a compelling option, not just mandatory on all gear pieces on most builds.
