Speed is too heavily rewarded

That's an awfully long winded way to say we need significantly more movement speed.
this post is true but come to my post and focus on the vision :-)

it’s an action RPG. The essence of an action RPG is blowing up screens full of monsters. Sure, the path to that can be slow at first — dodging, rolling, having zero DPS — but it can’t stay like that forever. There has to be progress, you have to be able to become a god, otherwise what’s the point of items and upgrades?

The essence of an action rpg is justifying the inclusion of the A in arpg by actually having action.

Which means combat that requires willful utilization of mechanics, skill expression, combos, dodging, actual tangible gameplay with a potential for failure that never goes way.

Going on a power trip as as a god of dps zooping across the map with no effort is not an arpg. It's an idler.

You are not supposed to become a god in a real aprg. You are supposed to get stronger, but never achieve godhood.
The most powerful finished build should still need to meaningfully engage in manual combat, or we might as well just play cookie clicker.

I agree. I thought this game will be slower with dodges and rolls, well timed hits and blocks and deliberate skill rotations, like V-Rising. But this start to look like POE1 all over again very quickly after first couple zones. Running over everything and not looking back... Having twelve skill slots but using three. You either crush the boss in five seconds, or boss will crush you in the next five.

Almost 200 hours in, couple characters later, I am very much bored even before getting my 4th ascendancy and 80% of Atlas. All I do leap, leap and leap, taking drops from ground but straight disenchanting and selling all to NPC because drops has no value, even if it says (Tier 5), gold has no use, even uniques, it is not exciting.

If this will be very much the same of POE1, why did we even got the POE2? We could very well keep playing POE1.

I don’t understand why they haven’t implemented powerful skills with cooldowns — like Hammer of the Gods, but 20 times stronger. Why isn’t it allowed to have such skills, when people are already deleting bosses with basic skills in just one second anyway?

With this approach, players who have a fully optimized build could still clear content instantly with their basic skills, as usual. But at the same time, players with weaker builds would also have a chance to clear content by using combos and powerful cooldown skills.

not the cooldown but some type of a build up is needed for that (i think this is what you meant)

altho while playing with rake you get the finishing move. it's a bit anticlimactic to take down the boss at ~40% hp considering the most fun happens at <33%hp.

they actually made witch hunter have massive dmg at front to hasten the fight so maybe try that? there is a lot of stuff here already but they seriously need to stop copying shit from poe1

If you balance the game to be about rewarding people for doing things slower, then people will optimize that too, and still be ultimately more efficient at it than you.

Speed is the only fair playing ground. You cannot cheat speed. It feels good to compete for speed. It does not feel good to compete by intentionally being slower.
