Shaders/DirectX12 huge FPS drop.

Surely.

Multiple people have already talked about problems with performance on this thread, with high-end PCs.

So yes, its the game.

Glancing through discussions from each league, it’s almost exclusively players running older hardware who encounter these issues. If you’re counting something like a GTX 1050, or similar vintage components as “high-end,” I’m honestly at a loss for words.

At the end of the day, your hardware is doing its best to survive, but it simply lacks the horsepower to keep up.

Lol nothing "vintage" about my PC, it was built in 2019 with the best parts I could find where I live.

Not everyone has a 5000$ streamer PC.

Literally all other modern games run at 60 fps with low settings. This patch bricked PoE's performance, as we can see by all the countless threads and comments about it.

Well, no, you absolutely don’t need some $5,000 “streamer rig” to run the game properly.
But let’s be honest, a GTX 1050 Ti from 2016 paired with an i5-9400F from 2019 is ancient in gaming and performance terms. The 1050 Ti was entry-level the moment it launched, and the 9400F was a budget-tier CPU even back then, fine for lighter titles in its day, but never designed for the CPU-heavy load modern PoE throws around. And with the game having evolved dramatically, better visuals, bigger systems, higher requirements, those components are simply outclassed.

Combine that with the 1050 Ti’s minimal VRAM and low overall GPU power, and you get exactly the issues you’re dealing with now. That setup just doesn’t have the CPU throughput or GPU capacity to keep up with today’s PoE.

So yes, to put it gently but bluntly, it’s a vintage, budget build being pushed way beyond what it was ever meant to handle. Considering every recent and modern entry level hardware outperforms your setup in everything by miles without trying.

Guys, unless you're planning on giving us a thousand bucks each to buy a new PC, your comments about "ancient hardware" aren't helpful and are hindering discussion of the real problem.

Just because the hardware is ancient doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist.

Unironically. If you're critiziing other's people hardware why don't you give them an upgrade or shut it? The game was working fine for people with 'ancient' hardware.

This is their fault. Their mistake with the patch. They added something that messed things around. I don't remember when I did play poe back on settlers that the game STOP RENDERING at all and you can experience 2 fps because whatever they added this patch destroyed any sort of optimization they had in the past.

Again I invite you poor ragebaiters and soyjacks to stop yapping about 'ancient' hardware and come with an actual solution (highly unlikely that any of you will since even Tggg has been in the deep quarters of silence as usual when it comes to optimization in their game)

This problem will most likely persist until they figure it out next year for 3.28 because there's so far nothing about it not even a slight acknowledge of the issues
"Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."

Poe 0.2/10

Returning to poe in 3.27: ATROCIOUS game performance, 5/10 league and I apprently missed the loot back in the last league. The more things change the more they stay the same..

Sherlock Holmes we dont need your oppinion here. read the whole thread and tha one here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3872620/page/4#p26437139 ! there are people with rtx 4090 having same issue. people with older hardware are more affected, yes, because the impact is bigger. When frames drops from 200fps to 50fps on newer hardware, the game still playable. but when same occure on older hardware, it drops from 60 playable fps to 15 fps. 15fps you cant play anymore.... thats the reason people with older hardware are more active here.

that 100% problem with the game. last league there was no such problem.

if we met the minimum hardware requirements, we should play the game with lowest settings fluidly! right?

After i rebooted my pc the problem came back but i found what the problem is, the main culprit is the nvidia cache, the game worked perfectly fine when i reinstalled the drivers because it was the first thing i ran but when i booted it for a second time the problems came back, now i disabled the nvidia cache and it's running perfectly like it ran before the 3.27 patch, i know it's just a workaround but it's enough to finish the league

Can i ask to the people that's having the same problem to disable the nvidia cache from the drivers, go to %localappdata%\NVIDIA and delete the DXcache and GLcache folders then reboot and try if it works for them? i want to know if that's the bug affecting everyone or it was just my case

lol dude literally 2 posts above your first in which you started ranting about ancient hardware i wrote i have the same problems.... with a 3500€ pc not even half a year old.

tried that, but the problem persists for me.

Nope. It got even worse.

EDIT 18.11.2025:
In an attempt to fix the problem, I deleted all the files in AppData\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache. And guess what? After half an hour of playing PoE, not a single new file appeared in that folder. Could it be that PoE isn't using the NVIDIA cache at all?

Driver 566.36, if that matters.

And yes, the bug is still there.

Yep, tried that one too. It just resets the cache and makes it unplayable (especially if you're in HC league, don't risk it), but the problem comes back. So unfortunatel that’s not going to solve it. There's a deeper issue with how it’s handling these things.

(unplayable as in you can't see much on the ground and the risk of dying is very high)
