Is PoE2 even PoE?

What would PoE1 look like if there never was a 3.0 and we were living in 2.xx?

PoE2 was supposed to be the 4.0 patch for PoE1 and PoE1 players actually supported it with their money. GGG withheld the information for 2 years that 4.0 was to become PoE2. PoE1 players who want nothing to do with PoE2 obviously aren't very thrilled.
Poe 2013 is poe.

poe premaven is poe

poe post maven is poe.

poe ruthless is what poe intended to be.

poe2 wanted to be more closer to ruthless and be something in between but ended becoming a poe like.

poe2 being ruthless can be seen in its trumelee combat. you can outskill many bosses during campaign. but you can see zoom zoom in everything else.

devs made a choice to push poe2 more towards zoom zoom. many steps closer to poe


poe2 is adjacent to poe. it will never be poe.

Ruthless is better because the ascendancies have more impact and your tree as well.

In PoE 2 just gear matters, tree and ascendancy is whatever

poe 2 is definitely not like ruthless, but if we see how the game developed with the interviews before EA was released, we can see a lot of ruthless concepts in the game.

even for the early pre release builds that streamers/players were allowed to test. the game play was much more deliberate and player power seemed to be much more controlled.

we can see some of the ruthless features existing in poe2. especially if you played 2 handed mace. playing 2handed tru melee, poe2 felt like a total different game. we really needed to learn boss movesets and play deliberately.

but every other class/weapon was more akin to poe1 zoom zoom.

POE1 is already a 9/10 game. You cant beat it by making your game purposefully inferior.

Yes there are things in POE1 that can be immproved. But your not going to get 10/10 by making your game worse.
I could never get in PoE 1.
Not saying 1 isn't a good game, I didn't play enough of it to judge it.

I really like a lot PoE 2.
Boss fight are amazing and a lot of skills are just so much fun.
It really feels like the first true step forward since Diablo 2 / Sacred.

I think people who prefer PoE1 are very lucky because GGG is still supporting it.

Apparently, having one of a diverse variety of movement skills on every build in PoE was unacceptable to the Devs, so they removed those skills and instead attached a mandatory, one-size-fits-all mechanic to every character. Fantastic solution. =9[.]9=


they had to overhaul all skills cause poe2 was made for joysticks while poe1 was designed for keyboard/mouse.

and they wanted it to be slower so movement decisions matter more and you cannot just cheat the game by having a speedy char.

"Cheat the game?" There's plenty in PoE which doesn't give two hoots in hard vacuum about my speed. =0[.]o=
