Is PoE2 even PoE?

" I don't get it. There is overall consensus that PoE1 game play, game feel is trash. Everything feels the same. I think you are confused, and think I am talking about something else. On Probation Any%

PoE2 is just PoE1 updated. At least production-wise. PoE1 still has the best story and lore of every ARPG out there. Some voice lines still reverberate in my brain like when Lady Dialla says that part about "the foul wastes of the empire" or when Piety gives her final speech. Great voice acting.
Not to downplay the hard work put into PoE2 but I just think it's not as memorable as PoE1. Anyway, it was evident that PoE2 was going to be more like PoE1 than the game some people expected it to be because of the choice of league mechanics. If they wanted to make a more tactical or skill-based game I don't think they would've taken the most swarmey mechanics like Delirium or Breach. They're both antithetical to tactical combat. Heist alone would've been a lot better for that approach and would've had far more expanding potential than all the mechanics in PoE2 combined. I think the intention for PoE2 always was to test how far they could go with cumbersome mechanics and get away with it. And the initial misery-casino crafting system (hoarding bases to recombinate 100s of times) is a testament for that. The changes that you mention (charms, gems, etc) are just addressing systems that might be a bit outdated (like the flask piano, being forced to change gems every time you change gear, etc). But all in all it's as close to PoE1 as it can be to justify the "2" in its name. At least that's the way I see it. |

" Consensus of whom? you and the VOICES?? what are these people on nowadays.. lmao |

Started out with playing POE2 and just recently got into POE1 . The comparison is pretty drastic and I am loving POE1 miles ahead of POE2. Just dealing with some performance issues on both but overall POE1 is insanely good.

" Right the game play of 2 is shyte, per the only consensus that matters to me |

Poe 2 is just poe 1 redo. They just keep copying in old content and changing the graphics. They need to quit copying all poe 1 stuff back into poe 2 and come up with new content that doesn't come from poe 1.

POE2 has:
- zero visual clarity in every situation - extreme hardware spec demands for no benefits - 99%+ of endgame wearable item drops are laughably bad - 99%+ of unique item drops are laughably bad whether for leveling or endgame - 20 steps of gambling labeled as "crafting" - inexplicable random deaths everywhere - extreme player time investment expectations that rewards degen behavior Therefore POE2 is definitely still "POE" POE2 then throws in some "DARK SOULZ" except unlike "DARK SOULZ" there are 100 enemies on your screen that each move 10x faster than you Last edited by mnieradko#6070 on Dec 1, 2025, 5:34:08 PM

When did people start calling everything that has a dodge roll mechanic "Dark Souls"
Is it just people who never played those games? The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" I also have to question this. "The overall consensus"? Really? By the people liking PoE1, or the people not liking it? I certainly do not feel like a fast-attacking build, using Frost Blades or Lightning Strike feels the same as a slow attacking build utilizing slams. I also don't feel like playing an RF character feels the same as any other caster. I also feel that a minion build plays pretty different than a blasting Wander build. Do trappers or miners play the same as a cycloner? Do totem builds play the same as an aurabot? --------- I think you have to elaborate here, because I think builds in PoE1 are vastly different form one another if you want them to be. Sure, if you're hellbent on pushing Headhunter or Mageblood into every build, they may start to look and/or feel close to each other, but no one is forcing you to do that. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Dec 1, 2025, 7:09:02 PM
