Content Update 0.4.0 — Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids

Well, I saw comments about "turning poe into douls-like" and "slow and tactical gameplay" alit recently. Well, maybe we should think on something, like: how many times in souls like-game you need to kill the boss to obtain every piece of equipment it provides? Well, 3 times at most. How many times did ve encounter the same boss through the base game? Thx to the elder ring, I don't know really, but from my experience it's at most 3 times(I'm looking at you "scholar of the first sin). Those things rarely have variations or different modifier values. And now just compare it to base of POE.

Srsly, did we really need that "burst protection" for bosses we gonna grind THOUSANDS of times? Some thoughts made this decision came true but I don't get it really. Like, what is so concerning about bursting bosses to dust in game like this? This looks like a time gate. Major part of the game is about "building" ridiculous stuff, but the more updates came in the less reasons to do so we had.

Yes, making poe2 is stressful. Yes it is in a rush. Maybe it is time to talk about it? With whoever pushes it that hard, or with players who get, mostly, confused right now.

Changes were still all over the place, important changes which needs to be done still came in with something that players directly fight against, for a year already. Yea, this is early access, the time of experimenting and research... But still, going directly against your player base feedback is harsh.

Good luck GGG.
Whoops. Forgot the performance improvements (again) lol. No big deal though. It's definitely not the number one request that comes before every patch.
Been waiting for a lot of skins from POE1 to be ported to POE2. and the newly ported skins are abysmal.
Youve been nerfing builds from 70% to 100%, making existing builds unplayable. Why not start with 20 to 40% nerf first?
0.4 changes were quite few compared to 0.3.
Lightning will still be the meta.

Toxic Growth: Now has Limit 12 Pustules (previously 8). Now fires 4 Pustules (previously 8). Now has 100% of base Attack Speed (previously 80%).

Toxic Growth Quality:
Fires 0-2 Pustules
Limit 0-2 Pustules

20% quality: 14/6 = 2.33
Need additional skill use or additional projectile to plant 2(out of 14) Pustules from quality

Why not:
"
Toxic Growth: Now has Limit 12 Pustules (previously 8). Now fires 5 Pustules (previously 8). Now has 100% of base Attack Speed (previously 80%).

20% quality: 14/7 = 2.0

Or:
"
Toxic Growth: Now has Limit 10 Pustules (previously 8). Now fires 5 Pustules (previously 8). Quality now grants Limit 0-4 Pustules(previously 0-2)

10% quality: 12/6 = 2.0
20% quality: 14/7 = 2.0
There is a bug on the Corrupted Nexus that when you die on the map boss, the map resets and the Corrupted Nexus Boss won't spawn anymore, and you won't get the 5 Atlas points. This looks like a major bug and you still didn't fix it after 1 year. This can be easily fixed by not allowing the Corrupted Nexus to be a Map Boss.

I get that, but what's the point of having poe1 twice? As I stated even if many of us don't like it, a whole slower gameplay is good for the game itself.

Their initial plan was to update poe1 to poe2 btw. Slower gameplay is always much worse than faster gameplay. Less loot is always much worse too. You have league stats that show us what players like. Players like zoom zoom builds and many shiny things on their maps. Its a non brainer actually. Majority of players dont have time for the games and they just want to have fun on weekends. Now tell me, how many days it will take for average poe player, that works and have family to climb to t15's? I bet more than a half of poe2 playerbase never killed Arbiter. Slower gameplay = dead game on arrival for sure.

People are different and like different things.
Many people like zooming and screens covered with shiny things and play casino instead of RPG game. Its fine, but you have poe1 for that, which does that significantly better and at much better performance.
Poee 2 was initially positioning as a slower-paced/soulslike/engaging gameplay and most of player skills and combos designed for that.

So yes, im fromt he crowd who hyped most of the patch about these slowing changes. Looking forward for better clarity and slower combat as it was advertised a year ago.

Can we please get Hexblast-Blasphemy action back? It wasnt op nor super popular and the current itteration is just not flowing good and feels terrible to play. Also a second chaos direction would be cool aswell.

Flameblast: Cooldown Time is now 10 seconds (previously 15).

Why does Flameblast has a CD to begin with, the skill is underwhelming at best.

750% more damage doesn't justify that CD, if the base damage is a joke and its usability is none existent.

That is not entirely true. Yea in terms of zoom zoom PoE 1 is no. 1, but in terms of gamba and casino PoE 2 is far worse. Like literally any decision or progress is part of one big gamba. PoE 1 is easier and more deterministically in this regard. In gaining power, holding this power, progress or acquiring better and new gear.

The slower approach is nice in my eyes, but I would like to see less gamble instead of more and so far PoE 2 is pure gamble at pretty much any aspect you want to look at.

What is so concerning about it? That the game is supposed to be slower and not like PoE 1, where we just delete them instantly without actually experiencing their mechanics.

The whole games principle is based on not deleting anything in one tap. Which I really like to see, especially if it is well made and has a good balance.

They went actually with the players feedback, at least streamers and the majority of the playerbase would have like to see such a change.
