reintroduce races and race rewards
" So if my math is mathing there were like 100k chars that were created, didn't die and didn't make it to act 2. Seems like a lot showed up for the freebie to me but IDK, math isn't my strong suit. Just a lowly standard player. May RNGesus be with you.
Stop trying to make people play the game like you do. If they don't enjoy it how about just leave it at that? |

Something is fundamentally wrong here if you think that around 100k characters were created but 286,000 deaths occured at character level 1-4.
Yea I think I'm gonna nope out of this conversation. This is not normal. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" 100k out of 550k. The total number of chars made was 550,564 to be precise. Over 100k of those 550k never died and never made it to act 2. Just a lowly standard player. May RNGesus be with you. "It shows. Statistics is beyond the average user of these forums, unfortunately. I, for one, don't like pressing too many buttons. " Looking at the statistics, it’s pretty clear that Hillock, with 220,155 confirmed kills, and mostly Act 1 enemies following close behind on the Deadly Monsters list, are the reason why a lot of players never ended up reaching Act 2. Hillock alone already gatekept Lioneye hard enough, with countless players getting endlessly farmed by a few pixels. Hobby Gamer and Professional Software Engineer & Systems Architect from Tennessee

" Probably even more than that, 550,565 characters created and 286,698 died between levels 1-4. That's over half the people that played in the event. So about 50% got the Hillock MTX then logged off after they saw that this event was way too hard on HC lmao(or like 60-70% of that 286k got past Hillock probably) I got to like lvl11 on a marauder, died to red explody siren mobs in last act 1 zone and quit(those things are giga fast, like actually impossible to react to them running up to you and oneshotting you), and then saw that it was phrecia ascendancies anyway so I couldn't even try to play RF lol, because that little detail was in some google doc instead of on the official page for the event. Hillock as Marauder was like its own uber mini-boss, insanely hard and bs when all you have is a Heavy Strike kek I'm glad the upcoming Phrecia event will have SC modes, I can use all 6 of my portals and get as much loot as I want and rush through campaign with no gear. And I get 2 free mystery boxes for just playing too, its gonna be soooo good. Last edited by Toforto#2372 on Jan 20, 2026, 6:55:30 PM

You really need to look up what a non-sequitur is and what it means, Toffy. Why do you assume that people quit after dying once? But hey, lets not let facts and nuance get in the way of a good narrative, eh?

" Dunno what that means, but the stats and numbers for that event were posted. And to see just how many people are attracted to these kinds of events just for ez free rewards, all you had to do was be in any global chat channel and see how many were peacing out after getting their mtx or box at lvl50(or whatever level) lol Like I even played in an HC event up to lvl50 for a free mystery box, its that effective at getting people to play. I'd never touch HC for any other reason. |

550565 total characters
220155 total characters dead IN THE STRAND (aka....didn't beat Hillock, didn't quit) 416405 total deaths overall. What does this tell us? 1) 40% immediately don't fall into the category of "killed hillock then quit" 2) 76% don't fall into the category of "quit after getting free mtx". They played until game over, whenever that happened. 3) Knowing the HC crowd, and knowing the event, a fair percent DIDN'T die and got to 100 and quit. Or continued playing for completion. If you actually watched any of the event, you know that there were....not just a few of these. Likely 10% or even more of the remaining players although we can't say with certainty 4) There obviously are also plenty of folks that entered the competition with MULTIPLE CHARACTERS, which we can make a good guess on from analyzing the pinnacle boss "accounts" and "characters" columns. So from these stats ALONE....we can already see that, even generously, only 10% of the participants would even remotely fit the category of "killed hillock then quit" or "in it for the free mtx then quit". And if you truly think that EVERY SINGLE PERSON that falls into this group did that...... So realistically we are looking at single digit percentage of total players of the event that MIGHT fit the bill. But if I were to make an educated guess based on how many people generally just straight up quit or abandon PoE typically.....I would say the majority of that leftover unaccounted for percentage are THESE types, rather than free mtx hogs. The folks that play until level 30 or so, get bored, and say okay I'm done. No death. no mtx care. just pure abandonment. They play to see what the event was like, and eventually decide they don't want to continue. I'm one of these people. This is probably especially true of the Gauntlet, which demands far more attention than typical gameplay, and therefore leads to greater burnout. THIS is data. THIS is reasonable hypotheses and inferences on the data based on comparable data. Not Tof's "I don't need data", nor random "but global chat was so active during the event!" nonsense. " That isn't a measure of anything lol. Certainly not "effectiveness". By your own admission, the only reason you even turn on PoE is for free mtx. You are a free mtx junkie. You are a unique individual who hates every minute of what you do, but you do it anyway (or really...pay others to) because pixels. You are a diamond in a vast ocean of people that actually enjoy playing the game. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jan 20, 2026, 9:13:22 PM
