reintroduce races and race rewards
|
MTX is the carrot on the stick, sure. But if people didn't have fun, they wouldn't be playing. This is true for the entire game. Challenge rewards are nice, but if the game itself sucks no one will play. Same for the gauntlet. If the challenge the gauntlet imposes wasn't fun, no one would bother beyond the MTX. But they do. You say "but he's right" yet the actual, observable, measurable facts paint a different picture.
No one is arguing against more races. The only real argument going on here is with people being obtuse about just using previous rewards anew, which would be a complete betrayal to the players who rightfully earned them back then. They were advertised as exclusive, and they will remain exclusive. The devs know better than to destroy their integrity just to cut a few corners. " Because you don’t actually have a source to back up your claim. And if you don’t have any valid source to support your opinion, maybe don’t throw around random claims. Especially when they’re about as easy to debunk as opening the ladder and seeing players go well past level 2 in gauntlet events. Not everyone plays the game like a garbage collector, scooping up every MTX they’re probably never going to use. Most people actually play the game to, you know, play the game. The MTX is just a neat side effect. If it looks good, maybe it gets used. If not, it sits there forever, just like half the cosmetics people already own from events they played purely for fun, not for a free handout. The way you play the game does not represent how the majority plays. And again, this is very easy to check by simply looking at the ladders and seeing players actually progressing through the game in various stages instead of stopping immediately. Just to keep this on topic, it would be way better to have multiple smaller events instead of long ones that die out after a few days anyway. Shorter events give people a reason to come back, keep things fresh, and actually stay active, rather than one long event that burns out almost immediately and just lingers there until it quietly ends. When they did the back to back to back races with Heist, Delirium etc. that was a GREAT time.

" I think its the other way around....you are OVERestimating the number of people that play "just for the mtx" and then quit. Much like most of the complaints on these threads overestimating the existence of problems and like-minded players. There are certainly SOME that agree with you and perhaps Tof's unsubstantiated claims, but I would stake everything on the fact that it is not a large number of those who actually participated in these events. Far more than those joining just for a lottery, likely got unlucky early, died, and ragequit. And disappeared or moved on. When there is a COMPETITION such as a race or otherwise, people play to test themselves, to try to win, to try to at least get as far as possible. The "free mtx" is an aside bonus. Free mtx has become the domain of regular league challenges (which sucks), NOT competitions. Granted, I also recognize that I can't point to specific data other than "common sense". There is a significant psychological and designed difference in choosing to participate a race or competition special event, and typical gameplay behavior. People don't arbitrarily join competitions for participation medals. Except of course....the lottery. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jan 20, 2026, 9:11:48 AM

I'm just saying, if you participate in these events and keep global on you'll see a very substantial chunk of the playerbase is just there for the free mtx. A lot of people play this game for free and will go after all the freebies they can get their mitts on, and then there are a lot of people like me who just hoard all the free mtx's because why not? Especially when they're low effort.
Most people don't care about these gauntlets, as far as I can tell, because they are hardcore. Edit: I have to wonder how many of ya'll only participate with the community thru the forums. Because that's sure what it seems like. Just a lowly standard player. May RNGesus be with you. Stop trying to make people play the game like you do. If they don't enjoy it how about just leave it at that? Last edited by Shovelcut#3450 on Jan 20, 2026, 12:36:18 PM

" *significant amount of chatters I posted some actual numbers in another reply. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" I'm just sayin, I DO participate in these events, and like everyone else I know I have global chat turned off because why would anyone actually pushing content want a wall of distracting nonsense scrolling past at all times? |

" About the 11k chars who made it to epilogue? I never said there weren't people who take these events seriously. Those numbers mean nothing when they don't include how many ppl killed Hillock and quit since that's what is being discussed. Just a lowly standard player. May RNGesus be with you.
Stop trying to make people play the game like you do. If they don't enjoy it how about just leave it at that? |

Shovel, how do we keep ending up in these loops where the information you need is already posted but you don't see it. The stats are in the same post you refer to. Open the link. Check for yourself. It's not that difficult, and you are saving everyone time and energy.
