reintroduce races and race rewards

Source?

I don't need a source lol

Its obvious most players that reach a certain level and quit do so for the free guaranteed stuff/raffle entries for MTX. And you can't even look at ladder for gauntlet to see how many people actually killed Hillock and logged off because most of them insta-deleted their lvl2 char so its just not even on the ladder kek

Its a simple fact that a large amount of players got to the target level for the raffle then logged off. Some even leveled multiple characters per event to get multiple entries. And then some kept playing until the end if they found it fun.

That's always how these events have gone.

So "Source: Trust me bro", as usual. Thank you for confirming.

On that note, Toffy, how about you open your own threads for your own feedback instead of constantly derailing existing ones?

On topic, +1. As a early 2016 player I never experienced the OG races and would love for something like that to come back.
I, for one, don't like pressing too many buttons. That doesn't make me unskilled, lazy, complacent or whatever other descriptor you are trying to pluck from your vocabulary. - Unknown philosopher, ca. 2025

Along with all the alt arts for winning you also had a chance to win some via raffle after the race was over, if you participated.

well sure, but people certainly didn't enter the race just for the raffle ticket. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you receive extra raffle entries based on how far you got? Perhaps I'm remembering something else.

I certainly did and I highly doubt I was alone, got a few alt arts I didn't meet the threshold for that way. Just like I joined that gauntlet Toforto mentioned, killed Hillock and then quit, again, highly unlikely I was alone in doing so.

And nah, you just had to participate to win a raffle. Random people were awarded the alt arts from those for each race, as the top prizes were being handed out.

People like "free" stuff. *shrugs*

Races were also excellent training for general play. BLAMT (BLAMT: Blood Magic, Lethal, Ancestral, Multiple Projectile and Turbo) races were amazing tough, but once you got in the groove, were eminently doable. And that was back before the rules changed from HC to SC. =^[.]^=

It's where I learned all the basics. :)

They're not wrong about this, to be fair.
Just a lowly standard player. May RNGesus be with you.

Stop trying to make people play the game like you do. If they don't enjoy it how about just leave it at that?

This is literally a textbook example of the Hasty Generalization fallacy. As in, I found it in a textbook.

You do, in fact, need a source to make claims about what "most people" are doing, because you could not possibly know what millions of other people are doing without one.

If you played it, you would have seen all the people in chat quitting after killing Hillock. Just sayin...

Exactly lol, everyone in chat was linking their gauntlet mtx and saying "cya" or complaining about how insanely hard Hillock was on Marauder. A loooot of people were attracted to the event just because of the guaranteed shiny MTX from killing Hillock.

If you never fact-check yourself, you never prove yourself wrong! If you are not testing people for illnesses, do they stop becoming sick?

Facts are observable and measurable. Such as https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3824611

Oh lookie look, facts. How inconvenient.

550,565 characters created total. 286,700 of them died between level 1-4 which I will deduct from the total before continuing. That's 286,698 characters total. 24,967 players entered Act 6, which is when you usually hit level 50 in a Gauntlet event considering most people overlevel quite a bit and take it slow.

Inconveniently for you, 11,000 players entered the Epilogue. That's not "a few", that's almost half the people who reached the threshold for the Mystery Box.

Again, it's simple to just state an opinion if you ignore all the facts, but you build that house on sandy ground.
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

Just, for one second, imagine life outside of your personal experience and consider something for me:

WHO is sitting in global chat during a Gauntlet? Is it the people actively pushing further in the event, or is it the people who are finished with the event?

This is also fallacious reasoning, because while it should be obvious that there's an extreme selection bias inherent in the "people sitting around talking in chat" subset of the playerbase you are ascribing their behavior to players as a whole.

Wooooooooooooowww.....
Stop and think for 3 seconds...would you see the people that aren't quitting and posting in global. Your argument holds less than no weight when you don't have the number of people that kept playing. Quick math game let's assume 10k people were playing the gauntlet and 500 of those got to hillock and posted in global and quit, you would see 500 messages about quitting and go, "gosh golly everyone is quitting!" but in reality where everyone else lives 9500 people are still playing. Do you see what I am getting at?
I think you people are highly underestimating the draw of low effort "free" stuff. Yes lots finished the gauntlet but there were also a large chunk of players just there for the glove mtx, and that's how it's always been. Granted it's usually mystery boxes.
