Yeah, you don't have enough life yet and you need the passives. Level up the BM and reduced mana gems though as that helps as well. I didnt' switch clarity to HP until merciless, and even then I still sometimes run it off mana if I am doing tough content and feel like I need the extra health.

Well, I got some gear upgrades and made it to 71 and EB. It wasn't the huge help I thought it would be though! I have lots of mana/regen now, and have been leveling up my AA so that is good. I can't really run extra auras though - since they are all still % based, having extra mana doesn't help all that much.

Currently I use one of these setups:
Clarity (BM) + Grace + Hatred + Discipline -> 135 mana regen for AA
Clarity (mana) + Grace + Hatred -> 105 mana regen for AA

So I have to decide whether 350 health is a fair trade off for 30 mana regen (for the most part I have been running it off mana so I have extra health). My discipline gem is not fully leveled yet though so it should get better over time. I am keeping two AA gems at different levels for depending on whether I am running discipline or not. I no longer need Purity as I have enough resists on my gear.

My DPS feels low, but that is primarily due to level 16 gems. I am still using an evasion shield too, and my weapon needs upgrading. I am soloing library and 66 maps without issues though so its not really too bad. If I join a group, it is slower to clear though.

At this point I feel like I need more health in order to take on harder maps so my next 5 or so levels will probably be health nodes. Its boring, but necessary. So I won't get to my last aura reduction node for a while yet, and after that I will take all the aura increasing ones. Honestly though, this build probably won't really start to shine until I get an alpha's howl (but we kind of knew that from the start). I might also try to make use of a prism guardian shield.

With Alphas howl, 20 reduced mana and the nodes each Aura costs 63% less meaning you have 34% mana left after 3 Auras, Hatred/Haste(Grace)/Determination. You have more defence to counter reflect, more life, can't be stunned and using Balistics Mastery means you can drop Faster Projectiles, use Faster Casting or something else and compensate by getting Faster Projectiles % on your wand instead of cast speed :)

That's definitely a viable alternative. You do get quite a bit more HP and regen with that route. The tradeoff for an extra 50% hp and 2.5%hp regen is 2 more auras and an extra 40% (60% if you take Inner Force) aura effectiveness on you, as well as the ability to run AA effectively. Really comes down to what you want!

Solid EK build, id change it slightly. The new aura nodes are pretty interesting, I've created several builds that take advantage of them. Bow builds are especially good with them.

Don't play EK anymore, sick of it.. too slow.

Also id change the auras slightly, id drop discipline and run...

hatred/grace/determination/purity or hatred/grace/determination/haste


79.6 and 86.9% mana reserved respectively.

With 79.6 reserved you could probably run clarity on mana if you had 2500 mana or so, not sure how much ek costs now.

Hey fellow EK scions! need some help if possible.

I'm level 50, have leveled to this point by using spectral throw and decided to switch to EK finally! Got myself a pretty good wand (62%spelldmg, 15% cast speed), and a decent all resist shield. Have EK linked to Faster Projectiles/Added Fire. Running Clarity/Grace/Determination to be more tanky.

However, my damage is kinda lacking because I can't spam EK. Theres about a 1-2 sec delay between each one, I guess my mana regen isn't good enough.

Any idea where I should head in my tree? I'm capped resists with about 1.5k HP in act 3 cruel.... Don't think that HP is good enough. Heading towards the max hp+mp nodes atm.

Any assistance will be much appreciated!

I had to go along the int highway to satisfy requirements for my wand. But here are the options I think:

3 points to ballistic mastery for more deeps
1 point to 30% more evasion if i ever feel like i'm not tanky enough.
3 points for 18% max life and 24% max mana
5 points for 50 strength and 24% max life.
3 points to pimp out my auras by 26%, dont know how that affects clarity/determination/grace. I'm also leveling up purity/hatred/haste alongside incase I need to switch.

Any recommended pathways? I just want to be able to survive piety + dominus, but do deeps to farm docks faster as well. Maybe I'm just too used to spectral throw hahaha

You either have mana issues or cast speed issues. Welcome to the fun of EK!!

Mana: might want to consider dropping one of the 60% auras if you are having mana issues. I'm 53 and have a very similar tree to you and I only run clarity + one 60% aura, ATM. By doing that I can cast curses, enduring cry, and EK and never have to pot.

Cast Speed: EK is a VERY slow spell, so cast speed is important. I took the cast speed wheel at scion start early in my build because I had a craptastic wand till about 2 levels ago (still no cast speed, finally some dmg though). 15% cast speed from your wand is a very strong number, so with harrier, I would assume you are fine there.

My next tree progression is making my way up towards EB and taking the combo life/mana nodes on my way as I need them. Eventually I'm going to spec out of Ballistic Mastery and Charisma and head up the templar side for more life/armor

I'm level 76 right now. I run 4 aura's (Clarity(on life), Hatred, Grace and Discipline) also tempest shield. And i can run lvl 13 AA constantly.

I'm quite tanky, i dont have any problems with any mobs so far. I've farmed merciless Piety and done some maps up to level 68, havent found any 69 maps yet.

But i feel the DPS is quite low. Especially when it comes to single target. Bear trap isnt that great anymore.

My EK has 3k dps.

It's slow but steady.

I have to note that i dont have a 5-link yet, sadly.

Anyone else feeling the same way? Im thinking of getting some DPS nodes.

I'm in pretty much the same boat - level 72 so a few levels behind you. Its a little slow, but steady and safe. I need levels on my EK and a 5/6 link to really get much of a dps boost. I need to get my hands on a haste gem though and see how much that helps (

Thats kind of the nature of EK though. There is not a whole lot you can do to boost your dps to insane levels with uber gear. Its why a lot of the big streamers don't use EK builds, its not very sexy :) Its pretty awesome for a first character on a new server with limited means though, and its not a build that is going to fall apart at you at high levels either.
