Player based will leave and this game will die out if they don't remove the XP Penalty

" Pretty much this. They're already walking back one-attempt instances, which is probably reasonable for some of this content, but if they turn PathofExile, the enduring, successful ARPG franchise for the gamer that likes to push himself (or herself) into PathofSnowflakes where everyone gets a participation trophy and free rim lick...well, that would just be fucking sad. |

I love these titles. They sound like a silly attempt at blackmailing. No, players will not leave and the game will not die just because GGG don't do as you demand. PoE is the most successful diablolike ARPG franchise in history and it always had XP penalty despite some people always complaining about it. Last edited by LaiTash#6276 on Feb 6, 2025, 10:38:05 PM

" Honest question... Don't you think they could be more successful if this specific pain point was addressed? Don't you think it's possible that more people would play longer and be more likely to spend money if death penalties didn't feel so punitive? And, for those that prefer punitive penalties, simply split the leagues between Soft, Medium, and Hard cores? Just throwing that out there, genuinely curious, because a death penalty is not really a core feature to an ARPG game outside of something like a hardcore sandbox PVP game or a rogue-like/lite where death is intentionally made core to the vision. This is just a looter Diablo-like, and I doubt I am wrong when I suggest that none on the market came close to comparing to PoE1's experience penalty, let alone PoE2's loss of exp AND waystone AND dropped loot AND mechanics AND tower influence. |

A great idea, split it like diablo 3
Torment I: Level 1-20 Torment II: Level 21-35 Torment III: Level 36-50 Torment IV: Level 51-75 Torment V: Level 76-85 Torment VI: Level 86-100 Torment Elite League: Level +100 (XP Penalty imposed) This case no one will complaint about xp penalty only at elite league. |

" No i don't. GGG wanted a fairly hardcore and complex game even though the most "logical" choice would be to try and attract as many casual players as possible by dumbing down to diablo 3 levels. Sticking to their design choices which they felt were correct even though a lot of players were unhappy with them and just wanted to grind to 100 with no setbacks while instantly obtaining BiS items from the market is what made PoE successful. Just because you're frustrated after dying and suffering XP penalty doesn't mean removing that penalty would good for the game in general. In the end you may be frustrated but PoE is simply a better game than any other ARPG on the market so you're gonna stick around regardless. |
