3.14.3 Engine Patch Notes Preview

In the [GENERAL] section of the settings file, you can set cache_directory=x:\path\to\preferred\location to a folder on a faster drive.

Could someone give a little more detail on this? Is the cache stored on the same drive as the PoE install or on the OS drive by default, like the settings file and loot filters?

I have my OS on a regular SSD, but PoE is installed on an NVMe drive via steam. Poking around the steam folder and the folder in documents where the settings file is located, I noticed shader cache folders in both.

If the shader cache is being stored on the SSD, I obviously want to change that to the much faster NVMe. The directions on doing this are a little vague, so if someone could expand on this I would be very appreciative. I'm sure I'm not the only one who could benefit from this.

Right now shader cache is stored in "C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile" by default. "C" being your system drive.

Good. I hope this update fixes the performance degradation (that results in a huge framerate drop and visual effects flicker) that occurs over time (say 3 - 4 hours of the client running) which requires the client to be restarted.

Ok I had suspicion that was the case. Thank you!

Then to change this I would add the line cache_directory=M:\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile (for example) to the production_config file because by default the cache directory line is not in the file. M being the name of the drive. Am I correct in assuming this?

You can't change folder location through .ini right now only in game options.
Options - UI - File Cache Directory.

Ah ok, that's certainly a lot easier. Thank you for the help, much appreciated!
Last bullet is nice.

Everything else is nice plausible deniability.
I don't use Rejuvenation Totem. I use Spell Totem + Vitality +Reduced Mana. Like a boss.
you even aligned the fonts of the performance graphs with the game ones. nice touch!
Imagine having pc, gpu, ram maxed out in graph... time to record the issues for GGG so they have insight :D
el Babo
still 3.14.2 now :(
bitch about a niche game? lol.
each new league is a circus of nerfs and buffs.
where is the element of fun in discovering the unknown in this game?
Well good news maybe ?

Seriously with an Asus ROG MB, 32GB of G.SKILL RIPJAWS ram, an i5 7600K and a 2070, and a win 10 pro, i don't see where the botleneck could be on my end...

We will see how it is going with those new graphs... Only this game runs poorly...
Path of Exile is a Casino for gambling addicts.
Gambling is not fun nor a game mechanic...
