[0.2] Cold Chronomancer Megathread. Nerfed to the ground.
heading to act 3 end boss. trail of chaos ascend 2 was cake. Stupid molten gold boss was harder. dps race with all damage nerfed... ggg why.
malice aura unleash+premed+murderous frostwall+deep freeze+spellcascade+ingenuity frostbomb+mag eff+zenith+echo comet+conc+ambrosia+tempo frostbolt+glacation... kindof stopped using it after unleash comet.. might try fireball, or nothing.. wall/bomb/comet is actually solid. esp since going faster cast. Blash+hypo+clarity conval+persistance cof+solar orb+limit. orbs honestly not that bad. but, probably will swap to another comet, when I get a skillgem. edit: yeah, got one, and hated it. ha. cof_comet was way too slow. so, strike out cof+orb or comet. swapped back to arctic armor. and swapped out frostbolt for fireball+zenith+controlled dest. this meshes well with unleash and walls. going over to Forthcoming, patient barrier, and controlling magic. will respec out of shattering for zone of control I believe now. ![]() Last edited by Casia#1093 on Apr 9, 2025, 11:34:48 PM

Can someone add venom draughs? Like which one to take on act 3 and act 6? Its permanent buff so i cant change it I think.

Meanwhile, quick poe2.ninja breakdown.
Before that, I don't have the time to play myself, but I'm still lurking here from time to time. I've checked some yt today, including that lightning spear build (both Amazon and Smith), and I was impressed by nothing. From my POV, there are no OP builds yet. Everything has problems. So: 1. Half of Chronomancers are running with bomb/wall. The most of the other half is a variety of party builds. Outside of that, there is a very small number of other solo chronos. ![]() ~~~ 2. Most of the builds are very similar. Some are good. Some I don't like. ~~~ 3. 59% of the builds are running with sceptres. Setups are different, but the majority is running with CoF - 88%. CoC - 53%. This means CoF+CoC is very popular, like 1/2 of all Cold Chronomancers are running with it. Almost everyone is running with CoF. ~~~ 4. Archmage - 44%. About half of Cold Chronos are still using it. ~~~ 5. Blasphemy - 20%. 1/5 of Chronos are still using it. ~~~ 6. Rare Focus - 35%. No Archmages here and no CoC. 85% - CoF-Comet. 15% - Blasphemy (either Temp Chains or Hypothermia). ~~~ 7. Other offhands are Crest of Ardura and Effigy of Cruelty: ![]() I believe it's the best source of Critical Weaknes atm. And it's damn focus. ~~~ 8. A very small amount of people are playing with Frostbolt/Snakepit - relatable bc of the Snakepit cost. ~~~ 9. MoM-EB is non-existent. ~~~ To sum up: - Bomb+Wall is our archetype for now T_T. - CoF-Comet is the most popular spirit thing. - Archmage is still there, but with up to 2k mana. - Sceptre is still the major choice. - Other offhands are good. Everything else seems good to me. Honestly, if I didn't see other builds in action today, I would think that it's just us suffering. But no, every single thing I saw wasn't impressive at all. Yeah, that lightning spear has screenwide clear. But that single target makes me laugh =) Same for other builds. Have to say, that our build is performing +/- on the level of others. And bomb/wall actually does quite well. So this is what we should play now. Pretty balanced and has some build diversity, from GGG POV. Well, they wanted to slow down the game - they did it. ~~~ After I saw some patchnotes, I got an itch to play, bc I accepted the fact that things won't be as good as in 0.1. I went through "shock, anger, acceptance" sequence. But I don't have the time for this now =( Sorry guys, no updates from me fr. " upcoming changes to charms, etc. no one has a correct answer on that. act3 normal- totally up for grabs. all 3 are needed. if charm rework makes resisting stun/frozen/chill easier then maybe mana regen.. act 3 cruel- chaos resist if you're sure you aren't going CI. reduced slow if you MIGHT. |

" thank monik for insight, i switched some of my gear to get >2k mana for archmage and it can deal some serious dmg now. tbh i was about to switch to other class until i got 2 pretty good gamba on both my jewel. |

" For me with 2k mana, Archmage give around 20% More Damage, but make Manacost 40% higher, i'd honestly just not use it because you will just do less damage per mana bar with it. In my case, ~313k damage from Comet per mana bar without Archmage, ~268k with. And no matter how much mana you have, with archmage you will always do less damage per mana bar. And since we have less mana that we did, mana sustain with archmage will be hard. But maybe i'm wrong idk |

" hmm honestly i didnt do the math, i just "feel" the dmg is better overall. im not sure what to replace archmage since my build having like 290 spirit. Anyone have any recommendations on spectres/monsters to utilize for freeze or cold dmg? I've been looking, but haven't found anything too compatible. Is it even worth allocating spirit towards summons at all?

Im not checking to see if anything is not being calculated correctly. letting it do the math. Frostwall target frozen/crit recently. Ave hit. 9694 31.35% crit rate. 350 mana cost. 1512 total mana. 168 mana regen 100 spirit (which is not enough for blink, conval, aa+clarity, and Cof. so not certain his setup up there. -- turn on archmage ave hit. 11620 A 20% increase. 434 mana cost. A 24% increase. no, obviously he's not Built for archmage specifically. he has negative max mana. and things like climate change "gain % of cold damage as fire damage, does not scale with archmage. let me swap some stuff around on his tree. 9466 hit, 384 mana cost. 1802 total mana. AM 12200 hit a 28.8% increase. 498 cost a 29% increase. 1802mana. closer. actually building for AM, can be viable. I'll let someone else do the math on cast on crit. I also have not checked to see if arcane blossom was fixed. |
