Gifted key by friend, but can't log-in on Steam as I'm told I have no access.

If someone gifted you the Steam key or Epic Key, that will do you absolutely no good. Those codes are only to allow the game to be downloaded through those services, it does not grant early access. The friend should have used that key themselves. If they supported the game at a high enough level, they would have received a +1 early access key, and that is what they should have shared with you. Once you redeemed that key and your GGG account was marked for access, you would have the links to make your own connections to Steam and/or Epic. This in itself is not a GGG issue per se, although I will readily grant that they should have explained it better.

That being said, there is still an outstanding issue. I gifted a +1 key to a friend. He was able to redeem it, and the GGG site said he has access. He got the Steam link, redeemed it, and it seemed to install fine, but when he tries to log in, the game launches but it will not let him log in. Still looking for an answer to that one, as are many in this thread who did follow the correct process, at least as far as we can tell.

So basically it was explained EXTREMELY poorly by GGG?

My friend bought a supporter pack on Steam. And then when he received a key for "lifetime support" - he gave it to me, like they stated you could do. They should have made it more clear that you needed to buy your supporter pack FROM the website if you wanted to gift your "lifetime support" key. That's pretty terrible business to the people who spent $1000s.

Oh well, it is what it is. Guess I'll buy a supporter pack myself... although now I'm worried about doing that because who knows if it'll work even then with all the other issues.

I can't speak to your specific situation, I did not have a lifetime support key. I purchased a supporter pack at the level that includes a +1 key. My friend was able to redeem that key, it says he has access, it gave him his own Steam key which seemed to work, but he is still getting denied at the login screen.

But with regard to your original question, yes. The process was explained very poorly, in my opinion. There should have been a much more obvious statement along with the Steam and Epic keys, stating that these keys should not be shared, and that they DO NOT grant early access.

What's the point of this Keys if they don't grant you EA?
What's the point to tell ppl in Early Access tab in our profile "Your account does not have access to Path of Exile 2 Early Access. Bribe a friend who has a spare key or purchase now." because it obviously implying that such keys will grant us EA and not just client download option, what's the point in downloading a client if you can't use it.

this is incorrect as when you press [video explanation of pack content] button next to $30 pack, dude in video literally states it grants you early access, so not sure what you guys are talking about. i got in the game and leveled till lvl5 and now it says i dont have access. theres something wrong behind the scenes

Redeemed key on steam and downloaded the game

i don't understand this on the exile webpage for my account

"This key can be redeemed on the Steam store.

Please note, this key only unlocks the client in your library, it will not provide early access to your account and should not be given away."

If it does not allow access, then what am I supposed to do?
I don't get it

You should be able to download the standalone and play.

Yeah, I have no idea. I don't want to wait so I just bought the 300 point pack and now I'm in and playing. Best of luck to everyone else having problems though.

The $30 pack is supposed to grant you early access, yes. This is applied to your account without the need to redeem a key, assuming you are the one making the purchase.

If you purchase at a level that provides one or more extra keys, those keys can be given to friends, and they will need to redeem them through the GGG site.

The Steam and Epic keys do not grant early access, so do not share those with others with the hopes of getting a friend into EA.

There is currently an issue where according to the GGG site, accounts are being given access, either though direct support or through the redemption of a +1 key, but when those players try to log into the game, they get bounced. This is something that needs to be fixed by GGG, hopefully soon.
So, I bought the game, even if I had key from a friend and seems is right. The key only opens you the ability to download the game, not to play it. So you need to buy. Please see.

Same! I tried mailing their support, but nothing yet. This ain't ok.

Yes but they also said that you could share your lifetime keys with a friend if you already bought a supporter pack for POE2. What they didn't tell you, apparently, is that only applies to website purchases.

Having the same problems as well, my theory is that, since we have sub accounts now, and the key that was gifted is from steam, and when we try to log in to POE 2, it doesn't give us an option which account to use, so maybe its tryin to log in using the main account (not steam).

Help us, GGG.
