Auction House Poll

Someone who is pro AH explain how the functionality of the GGG trade website in finding what you need can be duplicated in an AH.

I've never used an AH that wasn't total shit for search, items weren't ridiculously overpriced and sellers were content to sit indefinitely on their items. Not that some of this doesn't happen here, but the fast moving economy evens things out fairly quickly.

Is there a specific game where buying items you need is fairly painless, quick and doesn't result in ruining the game? Be specific now because I want to play it

Just do it completly like it works right now. Just one thing changes:
Instead of a whsiper button, there is a Buy button. And instead of a whisper it does two things: 1) Checks that you have the currency asked to fulfill the deal, then deducts the currency from your stash. Adds the Currency to the stash of the Seller. 2) Removes the Item from the stash of the seller, and puts it in a AH Tab of an NPC in your hideout, like a remove only Tab.
Both actions are bundled in a database transaction, so if one should not go trough the other cant happen aswell.

Now you could go on and move the trade website interface inside the client aswell but for the basic idea of how an auction house direct buy transaction should work this is they way to go.

If you want to do timed bidding auctions, this could be done again via the AH NPC. Select an item, post an offer, by putting in the currency, the currency remains locked until the transactions completes or a higher bid arrives.

There are relatively easy ways to implement this, based on the way trading and the currency exchange market allready work.

This was proposed several times in 1 and I agree this is the way to do it. Obviously, it didn't happen in 1 and isn't going to but could here. Seems if it were going to though the EA would have been the time to start.

Maybe
"most people prefer AH."
"most people do not want AH."

None of you have real data except pulling out of you a** or just anecdotal.

Here's what's real.

The people that doesn't want AH is because they stand to gain more profit. I have used 2 other games as an example in another thread but I cannot be arse to copy paste. There's probably a minority of people (numbers pulled out of my arse) that prefers the status quo. It's like how some people likes to write journal on paper and pen while most people have moved on to Apple notes (or whatever app you use.)

The truth is, an AH is efficient. GGG do not want efficiency. The invention of the internet creates wealth exponentially due to efficiency. Without the internet, there are certain information that are only exclusive to some people.

With an AH, you have an overabundance of supplies, hence, drives most prices down relatively speaking, except for a few outliers. Not in terms of currency value but rather, more players can afford things. Things to upgrade and progress, allowing your character to grow.

Without an AH, a player with deep knowledge of the market can profit at a rate faster than you doing 100x T15 maps. Anyone who plays the market in any MMO knows this. We love exploiting inefficiency and players lack of knowledge. I believe maybe half the players at endgame probably still cannot tell how much things are worth because they don't trade or they cannot be arse to do so.

It's very simple. When information is scarce, only those with knowledge can exploit the market. This is not hard to understand.

GGG has this vision to create this pseudo friction on trading so most of us grind the game instead of trading. By keeping trading inefficient, you increase the chances of having players to grind.

You people criticise the lack of AH in this game since 2013 open beta but you kept coming back to it grumbling about AH. Why?

There is currently zero ARPG with the same level of complexity and depth as POE.

Alas, GGG will never change their stance. There will never be an AH. Good luck hoping. Either you go back playing Last Epoch or accept that there will be no AH.

My god I am old AF, a 2013 complaint and argument that has never ended. It's going to be 2025 soon.

Merry Christmas btw.

I assume the majority of players in 2024 want an Auction House.

GGG doesn't want an AH for 12 years.

Could GGG have the balls to make a poll on twitter/X

and ask the players this simple Question:

Do you want an ingame Auction House?

Elon Musk is also playing PoE 2 and maybe he will make a poll on day, would be great to see what the majority of players want.

instant buy out already confirmed
And fuck Musk

I play PoE since 2012, I have the same hideout for maybe 6-8 years now.
And I usually don't care about ohter hideouts. I only want a fast trade.

Its like a nice House in Real Life.

There might be people who have luxury to impress people they don't like.

So I doubt that a majority is buying hideouts to impress the ones who come for a trade and leave right away.

no, trade is fine

I'm just intrigued why or how someone could prefer the current awkwardness over something that respects the players' time.

Because there is not a single game which isn't plagued by flipping bots and I do not want my gear to end up on that list as well. It's bad enough that currency ratios are all out of whack in poe1 because of this.

On the other hand, I would be more than happy to side with an item marketplace/AH/exchange/whatever you wanna call it IF the old system stays as is alongside the new system. Under the new system, gear would become bind-on-trade to prevent flipping and it'd solve 90% of the issues inherent to these systems.

Oh, that's on top of a high gold cost to both list and buy.

You want instant trading, I don't. I fail to see how the game as a whole would be better with bots dominating the last piece of the market in human contorl.

What’s it like living in sweaty Narnia? What control do you think you have now that would be gone with an AH that wasn’t taken from a time capsule in 1998? Unreal the delusion that some people cling to. Ofc the 40/40 crowd thinks everything is fine the way it is

I don't think it's fine as it is, but the alternative is worse than the current situation - without heavy restrictions and friction at least.
SSF is challenging because the quality of drops is very poor, so most people go standard, and this game has the worst trading mechanism in the industry and is the only thing I hate about this game, the rest is just balancing and releasing the missing content.

Once LE has buffed their end game, their better crafting and trading will pull me in that games direction which is a shame.

AH by Full Release or they lose this Exile.

There is no Excuse for it, Blizzard is doing better..

You clearly know your title needs it due to the bandaid of a site you have now..

Fanboys PLEASE sweat all over this comment.. you gents don't seem to understand the purpose of early Access.

I didnt play PoE1... Im a fresh take on the PoE2 Experience.. this needs to be fixed..
I see no problem with a auction house.

I see it as helping players. Nothing but a bonus
