Man, I love reading the difference in the comments between people.
The only psychoanalysis that you need.
XP loss on death = Ego boosting mechanic. People get emotional when their ego is threatened by talking about the removal of the mechanic. Only has a good time knowing they have one-upped someone else. Aka "Xp loss doesn't bug me. I'm just built different, ur just bad"
Everyone else = Relatively non-ego, and just want to chill and play a game without frustrations or needing to perform. Still has a good time regardless if the game is easier.
Overall everyone though? = Emotional arguments instead of realizing people have preferences and we can.. just put in an option to turn it on or off at our own discretion.
Go to bed ya'll. There's more to life than being good at video games. And if GGG doesn't want to listen to the majority of players saying that PoE 2 shouldn't be competitive, or tryhardy, and be oriented around fun. Well, there's millions of other games we can play without XP loss on death in it.
Reminder to those arguing that this game needs punishments. It's an ARPG mate, they've never been difficult. They're based almost entirely on exploding enemies and having them blow up with loot, no skill needed. You're not proving how good you are at video games by rawdogging some XP loss on death. You're just showing how little you value your time. Not something I'd be bragging about.

TLDR of the vid: Path of exile 2 is not meant replace path of exile 1, its meant to be a different game.
Can anyone point me to where that is stated? I am hoping its true, if that is true and POE1 is still going to be updated, will have new tech etc put into it, keep going with the leagues etc, then I couldn't care less about POE2.
I dont think they are going to run the two games like that, and if they do, I think POE1 will get the "B" team, and bit like what happened with D3 and D4.
In that case, zero desire to support a draw down on POE1 and zero desire to support POE2 as it is. Just want to see some sort of comments or commitment from GGG on what is happening with POE1.
They stated at the announcement of POE2 that they will bounce between the leagues.. so POE2 starts league and after 1-2 months POE1 starts its new league and going back and fourth.
This was their original intention.

Well said, personally I'm never playing PoE 2 unless they at least remove the map loss on death. If it was only 10% exp on death and nothing else I wouldn't mind it, but right now too many punishments that waste my time so I'd rather go play other fun games that don't waste time for no reason lmao
I've got better things to do than stroke my own ego by reaching lvl100 with a pointless exp loss mechanic in a game. And that isn't even an achievement by the way, people can do safe content and reach it eventually with enough monotonous grinding, same as in PoE 1 I can do Sanctum for 3 days straight and reach 100 lol

If that helps you sleep at night, go for it !
I guess people like me that can enjoy a video game and trust the game-developpers to make good game design choice have much much more ego problems than children crying from days and ends about dying in a video game because of a bruised ego of a slight punishment, threatening the world to fail if they don't get what they think they deserve. Make sense, thanks you doctor for the clarification !

I don't need to compensate for anything as I used to be a GrandMaster on highly competitive games and do LAN international tournaments, almost 20 years ago.
I know what a challenge is, thank you very much.
Now I'm an old fart, but I'm sure glad not to be an entitled snowflake whining about the difficulty of a PvE game and I sure enjoy seeing GGG having the balls to release a good ol' game that punish failure.
Now you claim that softcore deaths are more punitive than HC. Yeah... Ok. Here, have a cookie.
+1
A lot of these kids have never played Diablo 2 and it shows.
Yeah that seems to be the norm these days, kids just want everything handed to them without any effort or chance of failure. Loved D2 by the way and been playing on and off since release so i guess im an old fart too.
Love this game and im sure it will be much better once they get everything balanced properly and the rest of the content and gems are added.

Nah, it's just that the year is no longer 2000. It's almost 2025, people want a game that respects their time instead of one that deletes it every 10 minutes. Outdated mechanics such as exp loss should be abandoned in the past where they belong, and this 1 portal nonsense will have to change if GGG hopes to have a game with more than Ruthless player numbers retention.
Big changes will have to happen during this EA or the game is just gonna die due to so many people quitting. Campaign is a chore, endgame is a chore. And if people don't like this game and it bores them, they will move onto a game that they enjoy. That's simply what will happen.
Sadly there isn't a big enough audience of people that want some dark souls parody arpg with d2 nostalgia stuffed in it, this game won't be able to run as a live-service f2p title if nothing changes. But that's what EA is for, I'm sure loooooots of shifts will happen especially between the test leagues they'll do.

i wouldnt mind the xp loss if the white mob one shots werent absolutely broken at map level 10 and higher. capped resistances, over 100 health on each piece of gear, energy shields and still get random one shotted not to mention with all the screen clutter from trees and plants and such that you can barely see on ground or even worse on death effects (especially the ice ones) its absolutely miserable experience. the end game is a mess and its not fun at all.

Seems like poe 1 did very well maintaing a healthy playerbase without removing xp loss or giving handouts to cry babies.
Unfortunately they dont teach kids consequences these days and it shows, luckily GGG is know to prioritize the game and their visions over quantity and more money like Blizzard does these days, Blizzard is just a sellout now abusing their old IP's for income.

Your narcissism is showing.
We aren't asking for hand-outs.
We're asking for the removal of a system that adds no value to the game. A system that's highly unreliable due to the nature of the game. A system that encourages players to avoid mechanics in the game.
We aren't asking to have lvl 100 handed to us, or even asking to reduce the exp requirement. Only for the game to respect it's players time.

And you're also clearly incapable of discerning the difference between "because of" and "in spite of". PoE1 would still have been as popular as it is if it never had the archaic exp loss. It's popular in spite of the exp-loss, not because of the exp loss.
