Player based will leave and this game will die out if they don't remove the XP Penalty

I think if a company wants fans to continue to support them, they need to appreciate that time is extremely valuable to regular humans. The current system does not.

Time is valuable because there is things you can do and things you cannot. If you are not willing to put in the time you don't deserve the rewards.

You aren't getting paid at work for checking in, but by working the whole day.

Losing EXP is a boon? lmao. The masochism is hard on this one.

You can't really convince the people who quit to learn and improve their build and expect them to come back. That's just telling them "git gud".

People leave if they can't progress any longer and that will never change.

Then go play a game where dying doesn't matter and we will see you shortly back here after your realize it's a bore fest to not have challenge.

No, no they don't.
YOU have time to spend and YOU choose how to spend it.
If the time you need to spend does not align with YOU, YOU don't spend it,
instead to force the thing to take less time.

The new mantra from some ppl "The game needs to respect my time"... yeah,
imagine respecting the game for what it is.

Many, many ppl want a complex GRINDING game with risks to take.
Is it a game for everyone? No. Does it have to be? No.

It's not hard to see that GGG has this philosophy... they are called
GRINDING Gear Games.

Ppl who want the EXP penalty removed sound to me like "Quantum" talking about "Elden Ring".

It's not a fucking harm, it's a boon.

Gaming is all wasted time. Learning you need to improve your build or skill to progress is a gift in spending your time in this game more enjoyably. If you can't see that you're just looking for easy mode, well there are plenty of crappy games for that already - that's what gutted means.

Removing one penalty doesn't make the game easy mode. There are still at least 4 other fairer penalties in place & either way - you'd still need a stronger build to advance higher.

Remove one of the others, one-death maps. Balance is too poor right now to justify that anyway.

Yes, that's right, you still need a stronger build, more game knowledge, etc., so keep the XP penalty. It's a hallmark of the franchise and it's not anachronistic it's that the world has become too soft. Without this kind of adversity you just foment weakness.

Don't be the snowflake, be the hailstone.
My brother in Christ, this is an ARPG.

POE 2 is a game, not a job. Time is valuable because it's a resource that is literally impossible to gain back once it's been spent. I'm willing to put in the time, if they're willing to let me keep the bare minimum to show for it.

So that's the core of the issue. You want to show off your progress in the game by just having spent time while not making any personal efforts to be a good player. You think being entitled to the rewards just because you are here. Participation trophies.

What about playing the game -for you-, not to show off ? Playing the game so you face challenges and you feel your own pride for overcoming them yourself ? Can you do that ?

Nah dude, I'm perfectly fine enjoying the game. Probably more than you do since you've played less. I hope you're not grinding here in the forums?

Also, are we playing the same game?

Don't you lose waystone, leagues, dropped items already?

It's not really boring for me whether I lose progression or not. The game is fun overall and willing to spend more from here going forward. But we have to be honest, a lot of people complain about EXP loss and a lot of them also leave because of it.

Now what's your solution to the problem? Tell them to go on a different game? Amazing!

Only you call XP loss a problem. I don't. So I don't need a solution to a non-problem. Not all games are made for everyone.

The people that can't play this game shouldn't ask the game to be made easier so they can play it : that'd kill the game. And that's a entitlment problem. So my solution there is to tell them the hard truth : play something that suits you.

You know, I like the "1 death per map", but I think this is actually too punishing for new players as it is right now.

They should still be stopped from "Brute-Forcing" (corpse-running maps for better loot), BUT the punishment should be a little bit more forgiving.

By default an "empty" map should have 6 portals to use (on death), BUT with every mechanic added to the map you lose one portal (minimum 1 portal obviously).

For example, if you have 1 thing (Breach) on it you get 5 portals total, if you have 4 things (Breach, Expedition, Ritual, Boss) you have 2 portals total, if it is corrupted and has 4 things - you get 1 portal.

So they only get punished when they juice maps to the moon when not ready for it.

The problem with this idea is - party play. So you are not able to play with friends in higher content because of the portal limitation.

My solution would be - make it an "Atlas Passive Keystone Node".
You want more portals (on death)? Get the node.
You are strong enough to run it without the node? Unspec it.
