Is PoE2 even PoE?

"

But the game is balanced around dodgeroll..? It expects me to dodgeroll to fight the act bosses?

It's mandatory.

And I do not like it.

Dodgelroll belongs to Souls game. Not PoE game.

I mean.....it isn't first of all. You can learn the boss mechanics and pre-position or move without having to dodge roll. The game expects you to play more defensively overall. This isn't a dodgeroll thing. You aren't meant to just blindly attack non-stop without thought.

Also, as in past PoE 1.....this was ALSO mandatory behavior in PoE 1. Because of rampant power creep though, all forms of defensive play were rendered totally obsolete. This is a legitimate PROBLEM with modern PoE 1, not a feature.

And again....something so incredibly minor to the overall game makes the ENTIRE game not something you want to play?

So you're saying Dodgeroll is not mandatory.

Which makes it a redundant mechanic?

Your words.

lol nice try with that bait.

Also.....regarding redundant mechanics: Welcome to PoE.

The entire game has always been about choosing your own adventure. You can EITHER choose to learn to use the dodge roll effectively, or ignore it and use a different playstyle. You can use any number of skills with "movement" to escape attacks. You can learn and pre-position. You can focus on heavy singular attacks that allow you to spend the majority of the fight simply moving around, waiting for the right time to unload...etc.

This isn't a new concept, not any different from PoE 1. PoE 1 you could glass cannon and focus on movement and positioning for defense, OR create a tank that invalidates all sorts of ground effects and 1hko mechanics so you don't have to dodge. Or mix the two and only dodge or learn the attacks you have to for your build. And then there's the quirks and differences between the movement skills themselves demanding different playstyles.

You are putting so much unnecessary and frankly undeserving "importance" on the dodgeroll simply existing.

Still not dodgerolling in my PoE game.

I will not play PoE2 until it removes Dodgeroll, or make it a optional movement gem. Not mandatory / core feature mechanic like it is currently.

I mean, seriously. Pick up a squish character with 5-10m DPS then do Uber Elder in PoE1 before telling me how Dodgeroll adds anything or fix anything in PoE game.

You are talking to the wrong person my friend. I have 18000 hours and 13 years in PoE 1. I've beaten Uber Elder on far less than 5-10 million damage. I've beaten the fight with AND without movement skills. I've beaten far worse too, including the original version of Sirus.

I literally said it doesn't add or fix anything....if you don't want it to. You can 100% ignore it, yet you are choosing NOT to and blaming literally every problem you have with the entire game on an optional dodge roll that is ridiculously easy to use, and pretty much exactly the same as any movement skill that exists in PoE 1 currently which you are comparing it to.

I'll end this conversation here because I cannot connect at all with your mentality, nor do I care to.

*Your video doesn't even illustrate remotely the point you are trying to make btw*

Yet dodgeroll exists as a literal core feature in PoE with a dedicated button for it.

Even if it's currently not mandatory as you said. It will be shoehorned by dev to fit and design the game around it.

As long as PoE2 has such redundant and out of place mechanic, I will not play it.

The videos exactly illustrate my point.

Dodgeroll as a mechanic to deliver "meaningful combat" is a silly take on PoE game mechanic.

We have "meaningful combat" in PoE in the form of very well designed boss fight, notably Uber Elder.

We don't need Dodgeroll. We need better designed boss fight and a good cap on character movement speed as well as damage so they don't conveniently skip and insta phase everything.

Dodgeroll is redundant, born to fixed nothing, trying to deliver a false dream, from people who do not appreciated what PoE1 have achieved.

Don't use it, problem solved. It's that simple.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
